Integrated Amplifiers

An integrated amplifier is a component containing an audio preamplifier and power amplifier in one unit, as opposed to separating the two. Many amplifiers these days also include some source devices, like streamers and even D/A converters. For many years in the world of high-performance audio, integrated amplifiers were not taken seriously since it was deemed a compromise vs separate pre- and power amplifiers, but that has changed: The top manufacturers have proven that it is possible to make integrated amplifiers that sound fantastic. One of the key advantages of the integrated amplifier approach is the simplicity for the user, fewer boxes and cables, therefore making them more living-room friendly.
